Family Dentistry

At Victor Nitu DDS, we pride ourselves on treating every member of the family. Family dentistry is focused on preventing potential complications, rather than treating them. If you and your family are in need of professional dental services, we can help!

Dental Cleanings

You always hear how important it is to have your teeth professionally cleaned. The ADA recommends that you have your teeth cleaned twice a year. While these visits might not seem all that important, they are a critical part of helping you to maintain optimal oral health. At Victor Nitu DDS, we can provide you with the biannual cleanings you need to keep your mouth healthy.

Dental Exams

The ADA recommends that you have an exam twice a year. Even if your mouth seems healthy and you don’t notice anything wrong, it is still very important to schedule an exam every 6 months.

It is also important to keep in mind that you may require an exam between your routine visits. If you notice any signs or symptoms, such as swollen gums, tooth sensitivity, or a toothache, you should schedule an exam immediately.

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral cancer can strike silently. Most people never know that they have it when it’s in the earliest stages. The problem with oral cancer, though, is that it becomes more difficult to treat the longer it goes untreated effectively. Oral cancer screenings are done during your routine dental exams to detect the earliest signs, which you might otherwise never notice. This helps to increase the chances of successful treatment.

Dentistry for Kids

Professional dental care is a crucial part of your child's oral health. Be sure to schedule your child's first appointment by the time their first teeth erupt, or before their first birthday. Scheduling regular appointments allows us to monitor the development of their oral health. Developmental problems are easier to treat in the beginning stages.

As your child grows older, we can establish a strong foundation for their oral health, one that will ensure a lifetime of healthy, beautiful teeth.

Periodontal Care

Your periodontal (gum) tissues are just as important as your teeth. Periodontal disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in the United States. Periodontal disease is the result of an infection in the gum tissues, connective ligaments, and eventually the alveolar bone.

The disease is characterized by gums that are swollen, red, and tend to bleed during brushing and flossing. Luckily, periodontal disease is easy to prevent and treat if it is caught early enough. If we notice signs of advanced periodontal disease, we may recommend a scaling and root planing procedure. The goal is to return your gums to a pink, healthy state.

If you participate in physical activities that put you at risk for dental trauma or injury, we strongly recommend a mouthguard. A mouthguard will protect your teeth and prevent dental emergencies.

Night Guards

Waking up with a sore jaw is more than just irritating. If it happens frequently, it can indicate a problem that’s known as bruxism. This means that you grind and clench your teeth. It’s more common at night when you lack the control to stop it from happening. As a result, it can go on for extended periods, leaving you with significant pain in the morning. Victor Nitu DDS can help to alleviate the symptoms of bruxism with a mouthguard.

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ), allows us to move our joint forwards, backward, and side-to-side. Any problems that prevent us from using this joint properly are known as TMD or temporomandibular joint disorders. We provide some treatments designed to alleviate any pain or discomfort associated with the TMJ.
